This book was published in 2014, edited by the late great Tony Husband. I bought a copy for a quid fifty recently.

I am going to read a decade a day, and look up stuff I didn’t know/didn’t know well.
Introduction
“If you want to know what went on during the 20th century if you want to meet the characters that defined it – the good, the bad and the ugly – or if you want to know about the big events that changed and shaped lives, countries and even entire continents, most of the key moments are here in this book. Some of them even took place in outer space.”
Husband, 2014: 6
“The cartoons here demonstrate that we are not very good at learning from our experiences, we endlessly repeat our mistakes. A cartoon from World War II could just as easily come from World War I, only the names and uniforms have changed. Greed and stupidity remain remarkably constant.”
Husband, 2014: 11
There is a mistake in the introduction – it lists the assassination attempt on Teddy Roosevelt as October 2nd, but it was October 14th
