Competence-destroying innovations

“some innovations refine and improve existing technological competences and capabilities, whereas other destroy them (Abernathy and Clark, 1985). Tushman and Anderson (1986) label these types “competence-enhancing” and “competence-destroying”, respectively.” (Bergek et al. 2013: 1211)
