Second 4hr30m+ yomp today. Same distance (basically to Stafford and back), but carrying an extra house brick (in a back pack) this time. Will increase the distance, and the weight. In future will make sure to be carrying enough water (today ah depended upon the kindness of strangers…)
Anyhoos, right at the end, just as I was turning back, I got not only some proper adorable goslings footage, but also, a coot! There had been a pair near the marina, but I haven’t seen them for a couple of years…

I hope (but have little expectation) that, when our species leaves the stage, as it inevitably will – and sooner than some might think, the wonderful life on this planet can roll with our punches, and transform into something rich and strange. Moorhens and swans would be on my wishlist, but why should Gaia/’evolution’ give a rat’s arse about the maunderings of one of its spectacular failures?
