Attention bubbles

Oh, the public is fickle (or rather, journalists get bored, and attention shifts.  This can be a real problem for technological innovation.  It takes years to invent, develop, roll a new product out.  What if the projected public “demand” for your new product has evaporated in the meantime?  Not good!!
