Normativity, objectivity et cetera

Is the word “normative” in academia the same as “objective” in journalism?  i.e. often code for “I don’t know enough to challenge your empirical data, but the thrust of your conclusions is making me uncomfortable and challenging my worldview. And so to manage that tension, I am going to tell you not to speak of uncomfortable things by challenging your ‘impartiality.’”
