COINTELPRO

FBI programme in the 50s to the 70s, that continues today under different names.

Under the guise of ‘collecting information’ about ‘potential threats’ to ‘democracy’, the FBI ran campaigns of harassment and intimidation, from simple stuff (silent phone calls in the middle of the night) to driving wedges between groups (faking letters), setting up fake front groups to muddy the waters, up to, well, political assassination (Fred Hampton and Mark Clark, among others whom we will probably never know about).

Thank goodness the British state would never send in agents undercover who would go so far as to father children and then do a runner.  No, wait
