Resonance machines

Trying to get people’s “values” and worldviews  tied to what you want (and therefore need to get them to do).  The classic one is patriotism- the use of the flag  – se Bill Joel’s “Allentown” and also, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA”.

More academically, think Benford and Snow and “experiential commensurability” perhaps

4. Experiential commensurability: the resonance between the frame and the everyday experiences of audiences (if frames are very abstract and have little bearing on people’s daily life, experiential commensurability is low).

(Geels and Verhees, 2011)

And *definitely* compare with William Connolly evangelical-capitalist resonance machine and Lewis Lapham, 2004,  Tentacles of Rage
