Australian Labor Party (not, Labor, not Labour).
Shearers and stockmen, and then manual workers. Has its founding myths, like any party (Lights on the Hill etc etc). “Opened up” the Australian economy in the 80s, under Hawke-Keating.
Desperate for a win in 2007, after 11 years of John Howard.
Nervous of the Greens poaching some of their voters (esp in inner-city areas) and so can be quite tetchy.
Has major tensions between its (post)-industrial base and the latte-sipping types. So it goes.
More to follow.
