What this project is about.
This one is from Book 6.

How long it took to read this (aloud): 1 mins 32s
What it’s “about”:
Gods are vengeful assholes – a human gets into a pipe-playing contest, and the god is a sore winner. Gods are the worst. (Nb this is a modern sensibility – was a time when people thought Marsysas got exactly what he had coming to him).
Words I didn’t know: xx
Quotable quotes:
GORE worthy of James Herbert!
“And as he cried the skin cracked from his body
In one wound, blood streaming over muscles,
Veins stripped naked, pulse beating; entrails could be
Counted as they moved, even the heart shone red
Within his breast.”
How it lands to my eco-sensibility: Oh, he becomes a river, so that’s okay then.
Obvious allusions, ways it was used (that I am aware of already) :
The stuff at the end of the first Avatar film, with Sigourney Weaver returning to “nature” was on these lines.
What I know I didn’t ‘get’: xx
To my knowledge, who’s used it why/how (RACC): xx
Further research questions: xx
Anything else: xx
