Accountability

Yeah, non-hierarchical movements are basically crap at this.

And what it leads to is people taking on tasks that they either don’t have the time, expertise, energy or commitment for.  And if that task is a mission-critical one, then other people’s work will be rendered pointless. Which is massively demotivating. And if that isn’t dealt with, (the person who didn’t do the job can say “you’re being a fascist!“)  those people will – sooner or later- walk away, taking their skills, knowledge, connections with them.  And many groups basically fold when more than a few people do this.  The bigger ones, with bigger brand recognition, can survive, because there is a steady influx of ‘newbies’, a small number of whom stick around.
