Ban the word “we” (also, bragging abt exercise)

Sat on an exercise bike before work this morning. In past had read Financial Timeses and Morning Stars, but that gets in the way of really going for it. So I was listening to a podcast (I like to keep up with new trends).

I won’t mention the name, but it’s a well-respected one, with a knowledgeable host and interesting guests, all about climate change and its many aspects.

The two of them talked for an hour and must have used the word “we” – I dunno – three or four hundred times. “We need to do this.” “We need to do that.” “We need to understand that…”

So many wes.

No acknowledgement on how weak the “we” organisations are, the ones that are allegedly there to help I and I and I become “we,” to do the “we” things.

Much safer to see the “Big” Picture (though this one was riddled with under-examined Noble Savage mythology, tbh). Much safer to point to the bad guys and what they do.

So much weeing. It’s taking the piss.

My performance? Thanks for asking. 879 kcal, 21.95km, a new record.

  1. Marc, so true, the question is do “we” really want to change? I’d suggest until “we” are bitten on the bottom big time the answer is NO.
Governments, both past and present have failed us, environmental degradation reduction should have been started years ago. The need should have been clearly explained and the policies addressing the problem introduced slowly. As it is, many world wide have switched off on CLIMATE CHANGE following any real direction from their governments.
