A Republican idiot (even by their standards) has just won his second term as President. He has big and radical plans and the opposition is fragmented, disoriented.

But then along comes an event – one that could and should have been foreseen and prepared for – and the President’s visibly and undeniably terrible response takes a bad situation and makes it worse…

Blah blah history doesn’t repeat, at best rhymes.

This post may age like a glass of milk, but right now I think that Trump’s handling of the Epstein stuff (and of course he is in the files, probably more than anyone else) is going to tank his authority. The difference is that unlike 2005, with “Dubya” and Hurricane Katrina, Trump has people who aren’t just using him as a meat puppet, but are absolutely all-in, shameless autocrats who will have to be prised from their positions of control. Who is gonna do that? Not clear to me if the anti-Miller forces have the gumption. And aaaaalll that money heading the way of the companies that will supply ICE with its prisons, its vehicles, its kit. That pot of money will have some very keen defenders…
