Pankaj Mishra’s “The World After Gaza” – indexed!!

Pankaj Mishra is an Indian public intellectual. His new book “The World after Gaza” is most definitely worth your time. I will write about its argument, its gaps and its reception (predictably tedious and tediously predictable as that has been in some quarters) at a later date.

For now, this. One SERIOUS flaw with the book is that it has few footnotes and no index. This is exceptionally poor practice on the part of the publishers. I don’t know what the rationale was – save money? Don’t scare people? – but it really renders the book much less useful than it might otherwise be. Sooo, I did my own as I went through, and offer it here as a common good.

It’s not perfect, but it neither is it so incomplete as to be useless. The main failings (as per the disclaimer at the top) was that I didn’t index “Gaza” (I thought it would be ubiquitous) nor other terms that I should have (“Hamas”, “China” etc). But it is pretty good on names of individuals and so on. Doubtless though I will have missed some.

You can download version 1 either as an excel sheet or as a pdf.

If I update the excel, I will post that here too.
