The circus is in town, and it’s…. great #Stone #ALittleBitofStone

Let’s get the cliches out of the way first.  Those reviewing a circus are contractually obliged to say it was “fun for the whole family” and also “fun for children of all ages.

I went to Pinder’s Circus tonight with my wife and her cousin.  We are all decrepit and it was … a very great deal of fun.

From the inevitable clown, to the trapeze, the man balancing on a plank balanced ever-higher towers of cylinders while mucking around with hoops, to the Mirror Man juggling seven (I think) balls, to the… well, all the things you’d want and need from a circus are here, including, whisper it… an elephant (1).

Children are plucked from the audience, parents are forced into sweet acts of incompetence. Knives are thrown (not at children!), women swirl with skill from cascading ribbons.  It’s a show that won’t outlast children’s patience, but nor does it short-change you. There’s a brief interval for the purchase of snacks, and a raffle in support of the RNLI.

It’s on till Sunday, and if you are a child of any age looking for some innocent fun delivered with aplomb, well, you’ll find it.

(1). Possibly not a real elephant, but when you can breakdance like that, it doesn’t matter).
