Simone Weil, cygnets, goslings and a heron in flight

A short walk, and not in the Hindu Kush. Just to the marina and back (roughly 80 minutes). Weighted jacket and two bricks, as usual.

Listened to the end of a podcast about James Baldwin (interesting comparisons with his essay “Notes of a Native Son” and Ginny Woolf’s “A Room of One’s Own.”) Then a podcast on Simone Weil, who was a lot further “out there” than I’d realised. Fed some moorhens and their babes. It was pointed out to me that there are very few female ducks and no ducklings to be seen. Another symptom of having broken the planet? Dunno.

And fed some cygnets, tried to feed some goslings, and caught some footage of a heron (the same as last time?) in flight. See below

And here’s the cygnets

And here’s the heron
