Weak as a kitten, and on the radio…

Two quick notes.

First: I’ve been building up muscle bulk (lats, pecs, upper traps, rhomboids etc) at the gym and also getting back into long walks along the canal towpath wearing a weighted jacket (only 10kg, but it’s a start). And wanting to shift lard again. So, “back to rowing, how hard can it be?” I thought.

Ha ha ha ha ha.

I thought I’d see how long it would take me to do 2km. In my prime (longer ago that is nice to remember) it was, once, 6 mins 53 seconds. Reader. I quit at 500m (1 min 58 seconds) because pushing harder would result in the rest of the day being a write-off. Next target is to manage 2k, at whatever speed. After that, build up to 20mins, and start bringing down my times (and shifting lard).

Second: I wrote a piece for the Conversation abt Sunak’s u-turn, and was contacted by ABC News Radio (in Australia) and was on their breakfast show. It was a pre-recorded slot, and they only used the first half. I’ll get around to putting up the transcript of my recording of the whole thing at some point. For now, here it is –
